LEAF Accreditation Process – Peer Approaches and Insights

Hi,

Urgent help, needed for a senior leadership team meeting.

I’m currently reviewing how we deliver the LEAF accreditation at Manchester Met and would really value hearing how others approach the process at your institutions.

At the moment, I act as the LEAF administrator. I invite lab members to complete the accreditation, after which I carry out a pre-audit to review their submissions and provide feedback, allowing them to make improvements. Once they’re ready, I arrange an audit visit, complete the assessment, and confirm their final award grading.

I’d be particularly interested to understand how responsibilities are managed within your process, specifically, whether members of each accredited area complete the submission themselves or if a sustainability lead coordinates this. I’d also be keen to know whether audits are carried out internally or if you involve external colleagues or independent auditors.

Any insights or examples of your approach would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
Lindsay
