Hi all, we have a small project looking into creating consumables in house (3d printing) to reduce emissions from travel. Does anyone have recommendations for carbon emissions calculators or methodologies that could help estimate potential savings? Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Amy,
You can use the sparkhub calculators for carbon figures, but for savings in terms of finances, that might vary a bit depending on costs. There’s also travel emission calculators on referenced on sparkhub if you need.
Possibly the easiest though is to find the plastic type they’re using for 3D printing, get the carbon figure from here (go to materials tab): Greenhouse gas reporting: conversion factors 2026 - GOV.UK
Then do a comparison of the scenarios you’re working on. There’s carbon figures in the 2026 doc for transport as well you can use.
