UK Network for Sustainable Research UKNSR
From evidence to impact: closing the loop on research sustainability.
UKNSR (formerly LEAN) exists to close the loop on sustainable research — bringing people, practice, policy, and planet together to make sustainability the default way of doing research. Our focus is on publicly funded institutions in the UK and internationally, and we connect members through tools, training, shared resources, and collaborative discussion.
As you get started, here are a few important points:
Introduce yourself by adding your picture and information about yourself and your interests to your profile. We do request that you complete your profile — including your full name, job title, institution, and your reason for interest in sustainable research — in the “About You” section. This helps build trust and clarity in the community.
Username format
All members must register using their full name + institution (e.g. AnnaLewis-UoBristol) for your username, as this is what other members can see. This makes it easier for colleagues to recognise you and ensures transparency.
Membership eligibility
UKNSR is strictly for those working or studying in publicly funded institutions (UK and global). Accounts without a clear institutional link will be removed.
Share your resources
Please upload any sustainability resources you or your institution have — big or small. We are mapping the sector to share on the UKNSR website and the SPARK Hub, helping to avoid duplication and strengthen collaboration. All resources will be credited to the contributing institution.
