This sub-category is for sharing approaches to reduce the footprint of data storage and improve governance. Topics may include:

- Long-term archiving and retention policies

- Trade-offs between local storage, cloud, and national facilities

- Data minimisation and clean-up strategies

- Governance frameworks and compliance requirements

- Funder and institutional expectations on data management

This complements _HPC & Cloud Services_ (computing infrastructure) and _End-user Devices & Lifecycle_ (hardware). Here the focus is on **how data itself is stored, managed, and governed sustainably**.
